New South Buffalo Farmers Market in Cazenovia Park

By May 28, 2014March 20th, 2015No Comments

South Buffalo is getting a farmers market. Not only is it getting a farmers market, it’s positioning the market at a significant historic landmark within Cazenovia Park. On June 1st at 10am at the Cazenovia Park Casino, market sellers will come together to sell produce, fresh eggs, fresh meat and honey, to cider & wine, coffee, baked goods, flowers, jewelry, photography, etc. It’s the perfect setting for a market, and should be another feather in Olmsted’s cap.

The effort was made possible by South District Councilmember Christopher P. Scanlon, along with the Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and local volunteers. “Almost every community throughout the area plays home to a farmers market, it was long overdue in South Buffalo,” said Scanlon. “The purpose of this event is multifold: we will be providing our residents with fresh, locally grown and produced items, promoting and giving back to small businesses and showcasing an area of our city and region that many people may be unfamiliar with. It is surprising how many people in WNY are unaware of the beauty and accessibility of Cazenovia Park.”south buffalo market

The market sellers include vendor list includes Painted Meadows Farm, FarmThisWay, Prudom Farms, Desi’s Produce, Hens Honey Bee Farm, Kate’s Country Cousins, Robbins Nest Country Market, Public Espresso + Coffee, KupKates, Duke’s Donuts, Biscotti for Everybotti, Buffalo Cookie Company, Chateau Buffalo Cider House & Winery, John Angelo Photography, Buffalo Adore, I Do Weddings Florist and Alpine Made.

Along with the market and artisan sellers, there will be live music and… food trucks! The food trucks will be an unusual twist to the market, and will allow people to eat while they are shopping the market. Another twist is that the market will be open on Sundays from 10am to 2pm.

Good for South Buffalo to get this initiative underway.
