BUFFALO, NY — Buffalo really did roam in Delaware Park long ago. The region’s first golf course water hazard was located here, not far from where 300 soldiers who died during the War of 1812 still guard the Great Meadow. Hoyt Lake was originally known as Gala Water.
Visitors can now hear these and other captivating stories, thanks to a new self-guided mobile audio tour of 13 sites in Delaware Park. The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, the City of Buffalo, and presenting sponsor M&T Bank will introduce the free mobile program during a press conference on Tuesday, October 6.

BUFFALO, NY – WNED-TV and Donald K. Boswell, president and CEO, of Western New York Public Broadcasting, have been selected to receive the 2015 Frederick Law Olmsted Award of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy. The award will be presented during the organization’s 13th annual gala in Riverside Park this evening.

Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux are best known as the creators of Central Park in New York City, but their greatest work is the coordinated system of parks and parkways, the first of its kind in the United States, in what was then the boom town of Buffalo.
BUFFALO, NY – The first annual Spring into Summer fundraising luncheon scheduled for Thursday, June 4 will take place as planned for the purpose of recognizing community and Conservancy supporters while raising awareness for its mission. Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy leaders are adjusting the event to respectfully remember Maksym Sugorovsky with the wearing of green ribbons by the 400 guests and by holding a moment of silence during the invocation.
Stephanie Crockatt, Executive Director
BUFFALO, NY – Stephanie Crockatt has been appointed executive director of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, the organization’s board of trustees announced today. She had held the post on an interim basis since the October 2014 resignation of Thomas Herrera-Mishler as president and CEO.
A native of Michigan, Crockatt joined the Conservancy in June 2014 after seven years as director of external affairs for the University of Georgia College of Environment & Design. From 1999 to 2007, she was president and executive director of the LPGA Tournament Owners Association, an international trade association of corporate title sponsors for the Tour. From 1995 to 1999 she served as tournament co-director for the LPGA Oldsmobile Classic which was played at Walnut Hills Country Club in East Lansing, MI. She graduated from Michigan State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture with a focus on golf course design, and a master’s degree in parks and recreation management.
