Finding Comfort and Relief in Nature

By April 2, 2020No Comments

TYPICALLY THIS TIME OF YEAR, WE ARE WATCHING THE LAST BITS OF SNOW RECEDE WITH BUDS OF FLORA PEEKING UP SLEEPILY FROM THEIR FROSTY REST.

Yet our mild winter has sprung forward revealing an early rise to daffodils and crocus across Buffalo. And while these sunny springtime delights begin to arrive, they do so amidst a time of great adversity and anguish.

These days we feel fortunate to get outside and breathe; something we may have taken for granted. The phrase “stop and smell the roses” has never been so poignant. The oxygen our trees and grass produce, never so vital. Many are looking to Mother Nature for comfort and relief, and our nonprofit has been deemed essential to assist her. We are working hard every day, as we always have, to ensure your 850 acres of Olmsted parks are safe and clean.

With the days growing warmer and our natural desire to go outside increasing, we ask everyone to look around and appreciate our greenspace. Could you imagine if pavement or development had consumed these valuable, breathable places? So as you explore the great outdoors, again remember your social distance for the good of our city. And when this is over, be assured your Olmsted parks and the Conservancy who cares for them will be here for you — everyday. Your parks are the Buffalungs of Buffalo. Be safe, stay strong.
