Hoyt Lake fountain returns to Delaware Park

By June 2, 2017No Comments

THE BUFFALO OLMSTED PARKS CONSERVANCY HAS REINSTALLED THE HOYT LAKE FOUNTAIN.

“Since last year, the Conservancy has worked with a number of special partners to help restore and resituate the fountain in Hoyt Lake,” said Executive Director Stephanie Crockatt. “The fountain had seized both mechanically and electrically, so the entire mechanism with its electrical conduit had to be carefully lifted out of the lake, cleaned, re-calibrated, re-wired and now lowered back into the water. We have many to thank, as this was literally a heavy lift.”

Working on the fountain included Conservancy staff, the City of Buffalo Department of Public Works and two service companies, MGM Electric and Thermal Mechanical.

Crockatt said the fountain – which originated from a grant from then-New York State Sen. Mark Grisanti – has become a scenic compliment to the challenged lake and is one of the most photographed features in that part of Delaware Park. However, maintenance costs and expenses have been paid by the Conservancy.

She said funding for the repairs came from Delaware District Common Councilmember Joel Feroleto.

“Hoyt Lake is one of the most serene and picturesque locations in the City of Buffalo and neighbors and visitors are excited about the fountain,” Feroleto said.
