CITY SPLASH PADS OPEN UP ACROSS BUFFALO
Mayor Brown announces that nine splash pads throughout the city will open this weekend
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – BUFFALO’S LATEST AND BEST WEAPON AGAINST A DESTRUCTIVE PEST THAT HAS ALREADY LAID MILLIONS OF ASH TREES TO WASTE ACROSS THE U.S. IS A CURVED ARBORIST’S HAND SAW.
Foresters for the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy use it to strip bark from infested trees to draw the emerald ash borer away from the healthy ash trees.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – IN JUST A FEW YEARS THE EMERALD ASH BORER HAS ALREADY LAID WASTE TO THOUSANDS OF TREES IN WESTERN NEW YORK, AND NOW THE BUFFALO OLMSTED PARKS CONSERVANCY IS DRAWING A LINE IN THE SAND.
But can parks officials stop or slow down a ravenous pest that has been shown to be–up to this point–unstoppable?
